Something’s coming…

5 01 2009

You all know that I think in song lyrics. Lately it seems to be an increasingly prevalent thing. I can’t hear any comment or think of any memory without some song lyric jumping to mind. So now I offer you some of the songs that are uppermost in my brain these days. Read the rest of this entry »

That “Wedding” Thing

2 01 2009

A  few posts ago I mentioned my ideal wedding and promised to detail it if three people showed interest. Exactly three people showed interest.  So this post is for them… everyone else can just wait for another post of more immediate interest.

Note- This is coming from a single girl. I have to significant other to offer his opinion on the details involved. Hence this is a plan not limited by money, convenience, practicality or the slightest bit of concern for the opinions of others. Read the rest of this entry »

Be My Guest

21 07 2008

I have about three blog posts saved up in my head right now. One of which is a tribute to my dad for his 50th birthday. The second is called “God is the Universes’ Most Patient Orchestra Conductor”. The third is the one you all are getting first. Primarily because it is what is going on in my life right now, partly because it seems most fitting for late-evening-porch-writing.

So what is going on in your life right now? you might ask.

Interesting (I speak in the cosmic sense) stuff. Read the rest of this entry »

Summer Reading, Had Me a Blast!

12 07 2008

I think that there is nothing in this world so wonderful as a library. The bigger the better. I had a morning to do just exactly what I wanted and (being me) I went to the Bellevue Regional Library.

I went armed with my cutest black first-grade-teacher sweater, a giant canvas bag for the books and a desire to do something constructive with my summer. The late-night Lord of the Rings marathon can’t last forever. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m coming home baby…

16 12 2007

“I’m coming home now real soon
doo doo doo
I’m coming home now right away
Doo doo DO”

It’s a Michael Buble song. Don’t worry about it too much.

It’s my last morning in Tauranga and I woke up at 6:30 to say goodbye to my dear friend Nick Pierson Badger. He’s a champion that one. I went back to sleep for a while and had gnarly dreams. But the sun is shining through some storm clouds, my bags are mostly packed and we have a full day in which to enjoy NZ.

I tweaked out fully last night and spent a couple of hours staring at people, making nonsensical comments and hiding behind my hair. I also ran around giving away my food to anyone who would stand still long enough to eat something.

Now before me is a walk, a visit to town and then a plane ride.

“I’m leavin’ on a jet plane
Don’t know when I’ll be back again
and babe, I hate to goooooooo”

Though I’m fairly light-hearted about the whole thing (if you couldn’t already tell from the songs…)

On another note, staring at my two enormous bags full of stuff… I really need to simplify my life.

Anyway I love you very much and I look forward to seeing some of you on my return. (And the rest of you eventually.)

Coming Home

15 12 2007

In about 56 hours I shall be home in Seattle once more.

Goodbye’s stink.

From the Ends of the Earth

13 12 2007

From the ends of the earth
From the deep places, from the high
We’re crying out, we’re calling
Saying “we miss you, please return”

We miss you! The whole earth groans
We miss you! Each tortured soul
bent and beaten, sick and lame
weak and worried, wild but tamed
by one glance of Your eyes;
One word from your heart.

We cannot see you but live by faith
Knowing that we are strangers
Trespassers in a world not our own.
A land ruled by hate, given over to lusts.
They beat us back and drag us down,
They fight against You, in vain!

Death is no enemy, time no foe
For nothing can stand against You
and we are children, the Bride
For whom You sent Your Own to bleed and die
And we miss that beauty,
That selfless Love
So send Him again! Send Him soon!

Let Him trample kings under His glorious feet
Death and judgement, glory and beauty
Fiery eyes and pealing voice
Jehovah Lord of Hosts
My Lord my Husband

And I miss You.
Won’t You come again?!
