A Lovely Day

5 10 2008

It’s Salmon Days in good old Issaquah this weekend. This means that all of old downtown has been taken over by white tents and crazy-haired artists. The white tents make it look like some sort of epidemic has hit. You expect to see men in Haz-Mat suits but instead there are little kids and people eating roasted corn. Most of the streets are blocked off with police barricades. Seriously.

Which means that I get to feel like the White House Chief of Staff driving into work. I have a special parking pass, my parking area is chained off with real chains and I get to drive wherever I want to. I restrain myself to driving in the places that will cause the least trouble.

I’m looking forward to work anyway. Last night was really nice at work. My two favorite ushers were there. (Side note- you’ll know you’ve worked at a theatre a long time when you start to recognize specific ushers.) During the first act I practiced my piano on an out-of-tune upright upstairs. I also danced around one of the rehearsal studios which was SUPER fun. Mostly because I was wearing a cotton-jersey dress and leggings so the colour/movement effect was lovely. I also did some drawing and listened to a really good Heather Clark CD. So you see, it was a evening both productive and pleasant.

That combined with a morning of having the house to myself means that I expect this to be a lovely day. Later this evening I will be writing a blog to fill you all in on the Prophetic Arts conference.

I love the mental picture of you flitting around the practice room. You’re my hero.
